Electrify Your Fence

Attach Safe-Fence R-79 Wire Connector to top tensioner and run R-28 high voltage wire to the fence terminal on fence controller. Make sure that ground rods are all connected together and to the ground post on the fence charger.

Use Wire Connectors to attach all tensioners together, starting at the top. After connecting to the top Tensioner, connect on down to the remaining Tensioners. (Should grass grow up, you can disconnect the bottom strand without disconnecting the rest of the fence.) Make sure all insulators are closed and ground rods are connected properly.

Turn on the fence controller and check voltage at the end the of fence. Walk the fence to look for arcing, broken insulators, loose polytape, vegetation touching the fence, etc. Check voltage regularly.

Use wire connectors and high voltage insulated cable to connect Tensioners

VERY IMPORTANT: Power up each section of Safe-Fence as you build it. Never put horses behind Safe-Fence that is not electrified. In very dry areas you may need to take additional measures to insure adequate grounding. In areas with lots of vegetation you might need to disconnect the bottom strand at times to keep grass from arcing to the tape until you can mow. It is recommended that a herbicide be sprayed along the fence periodically to keep vegetation down.
